Animation on the rise in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region has been supporting animation since 2010. We provide grants for feature films, short films and films or series for television at the writing, development and production stages.
Now with a budget of 1,4M€, the regional support fund for animation has financed more than 100 projects.
Since 2024, thanks to three new funds launched on the territory, an additional 525 000€ are available for animated projects.
Produced in one of the 15 regional studios or by companies that have chosen to settle in the region, these projects have created a dynamic ecosystem in an attractive and highly appreciated region that hosts two internationally renowned schools. MOPA (Arles) and ENSI (Avignon).
This regional support to the animation has proved to be crucial :
- PACHYDERME by Stéphanie Clément was nominated in 2024 in the final short category for the Oscar for Best animated short movie.
- FLOW by Gints Zilbalodis selected in Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2024, won 4 Awards in Annecy 2024 (Best original music, Gan Foundation Award, Audience and Jury Awards) then won the most prestigious Awards: Golden Globe, César and Oscar for best animated feature.
